With a background in fashion and fashion illustration, Claudia Klein aka the Scissorhands has a soft spot for faces and the beauty and fragility of the human body. Sources of inspiration range from old black and white photographs to contemporary fashion magazines to paintings of Flemish still lifes and David Lynch movies.
Her collages are carefully constructed arrangements, often consisting of only two picture elements. The works create surreal, ethereal, sometimes eerie dreamscapes with unexpected assemblages of objects and body parts.
Claudia Klein lives and works as an artist and freelance illustrator in Munich.
